Separate the compartment figures

Energy Saving Trust explains that refrigeration labels show the capacity of chilled and frozen compartments. Keep those figures separate when comparing a fridge-freezer. A combined total can hide a different balance between fresh-food storage and frozen storage, which may matter more to your routine than a larger headline number.

Write down the exact model and the units beside each value. If a seller's summary combines capacities differently from the official information, resolve the discrepancy before comparing. The historical refrigerator interior shows shelves holding several package shapes, but the image cannot establish its measured capacity or how much storage your household needs.

Look at the arrangement inside

Make a short list of the containers, bottles and dishes that regularly cause difficulty in your current fridge. Compare their dimensions with the shelf and door arrangements you can verify for the shortlisted model. Do not infer usable height from a photograph taken at an unknown angle or assume every shelf can be moved.

The second refrigerator photograph shows both main shelves and door storage. It provides visual context for the distinction between a litre total and an arrangement of spaces. It is not a food-storage recommendation or a test of the appliance, and it should not be used to copy a loading pattern without the relevant product guidance.

Use a transparent capacity comparison

Consider two hypothetical fridge-freezers. Model A has 200 litres chilled and 80 litres frozen, totalling 280 litres. Model B has 180 litres chilled and 100 litres frozen, also totalling 280 litres. The identical total conceals a 20-litre shift between compartments; neither arrangement is automatically more suitable.

These are invented specifications for an arithmetic example, not actual products. Use the comparison to identify the trade-off you need to investigate. A percentage split can describe the figures, but it does not establish how many shopping bags fit, whether a large dish clears the shelf or how efficiently the appliance runs.

Check access before choosing a larger cabinet

Bosch's fridge-installation guidance says methods and measurements vary by model and the specific installation manual must be checked. Keep the space required to open doors and use drawers separate from the external cabinet dimensions. A larger capacity is not useful if the approved installation or practical access cannot be achieved.

The close-up brand badge photograph makes a narrower point: a maker's name is not the complete model identifier needed to find the right drawing. Save the full reference from the actual product information. Do not copy clearances from another fridge because it shares the same brand or a similar front panel.

Compare the complete decision

Assume one suitable option costs £550 and another £620, with identical £40 delivery and installation allowances. Their initial totals are £590 and £660, a £70 difference. Those figures are hypothetical and do not include running costs, removal or any service not explicitly listed.

Keep the capacity balance, internal layout and confirmed access beside the price rather than combining them into a fabricated score. If you cannot verify a shelf dimension that matters, ask the supplier or inspect the model appropriately before buying. The goal is a fridge that accommodates the actual routine, not simply the largest litre figure on the shortlist.
